"Fire and Ice" is a series created by artists Toni Prediger and Atau Hámos in 2024 for their exhibition at BERLINRODEO[lab]. In the series, they present three artworks that are set in scene by a site-specific installation.
SCH
WELLE
Atau Hámos works are influenced by the urban aesthetics of Berlin: unconventional, visually overloaded, constantly changing. The Berlin artist deals with structural issues and addresses social conflicts, among other things, focusing on structures such as urban networks, nervous systems, economic forms and hierarchies, finding abstract metaphors in his artworks.
UM
SICHT
In contrast, Toni Prediger looks inside herself and is also exposed to conflicts there. Her artworks focus on existential, self-dependent conflicts, how she deals with them and their effects. In her works she articulates the constant alternation between hardly accessible feelings and being overwhelmed by them.
BEGEGNUNG
"Fire and Ice" explores these contrasting perspectives and how they grow together. What they both have in common is a fascination for exploring boundaries and crossing them. This characteristic is reflected in their works by breaking through the picture frame and expanding into the space. Their works often extend across walls, floors and ceilings. The viewer is thus invited to explore the artwork from different perspectives.
VER
SUCHUNG
Their artistic work is characterised by the media-specific use of adhesive materials. They experiment with the medium tape and question its basic principals. Through the use of techniques such as plotters, digitally created structures are transferred into physically tangible surfaces. Organic and artificial, abstract and figurative, flowing and rigid elements are radically intermingled.
