EXHIBITION JAPAN
In 2020, together with the Berlin-based artist collective Tape That, I designed a room at 3331 Arts Chiyoda in Tokyo. We were part of an international exhibition featuring tape artists from all over the world organized by mt masking tape. Together with Infra and Adrian Dittert we created the sculpture DASMO. The sculpture consists of wooden panels that have been precisely inserted into each other. Japanese culture and the local mt Washi tape had a big influence on my style at that time. I started to apply the tape in strips, cut them apart and put them together in a distorted way.
DASMO
The sculpture design of "DASMO" was developed by Infra, the idea for the surface design came from Adrian Dittert and me.
The basic concept was to create a sculpture that is easy to transport. Infra cut two rectangles into triangles of different sizes and put them together.
The end result is a sculpture that plays
with perception, shape and color.
LIMIT
Since I started tape art I work on pushing the limits of tape as a medium.
Smooth gradients are one of the things that logically you can‘t really do with tape. In the 3331 art gallery in Tokyo I decided to tape one of four room corners in a gradient pattern that I developed in recent years.
In this art work I tried to break the limitations of the medium and create a space in which our perception of what is present dissolves.

Dedicated to my brother
Isidor Hámos.
This artwork has a very special reference to me. In an abstract way it reflects the relationship between two brothers. I created this artwork in the first days of the Japan tour that I did with Tape That in 2020. I couldn't wait to get started, that I spent 2-3 hours working on this piece in my room every evening after we finished working on the main installations.
